Kari Brown attended the ASCA/NADAC agility trial in College Station with our boy Burns (Rainyday's Catcher in the Rye NAJ), her boy Pete (UKC CH Rainyday's Hard Habit to Break NA NAJ) and Danielle Pugh's boy Jackson (ASCA CH Rainyday's Remember When AKC/ASCA CD OA OAJ)

Kari writes:

I was so excited I decided to come to work and let you all know how my weekend went.  I went down to College Station and took Jackson, Burns and my own boy Pete to their first ASCA/NADAC agility trial.  Pete and Burns just turned 18 months old a couple days ago and I only showed the boys in jumpers, standard and gamblers.  Saturday morning Burns picked up his first
jumpers Q and Pete also qualified in jumpers with a 4th place.  Later that day Pete qualified in both standard round one and gamblers!  Jackson picked up a half Q in standard.  In round two Burns qualified in both standard and gamblers with a 4th place and Pete qualified again in standard and gamblers with 3rd place!  This gives Pete is first ASCA title of GS-N!!  On Sunday
we started out with standard where Jackson took second place but did not qualify, Burns qualified with 4th place and Pete was on fire and qualified with 1st place to complete his RS-N,NAC title!!!  Pete has decided he really likes agility!!  In round two Jackson smoked the course with a first place!!!!  I decided to go a head and show Pete for practice and he took 4th place in standard and gamblers.  The last class of the day was jumpers where Burns took 4th place for his JS-N title!!!

Pete is now UKC CH. Rainyday's Hard Habit To Break NA,NAJ,RS-N,NAC,GS-N (2 legs OA, 1 leg OAJ, 1 leg JS-N,NJC, 2 legs NGC)
Burns is now Rainyday's Catcher In The Rye NAJ,JS-N (2 legs NA,1 leg OA, 2 legs RS-N,NAC, 1 leg GS-N,NGC)

December 9-11

We stayed home this weekend but Deborah Hendrickson had a great time at the Amarillo show. Deb showed Friday-Sunday. On Friday Deb's Spark (AKC/ASCA CH Rainyday's I'm On Fire HT) daughter Lace (Pacific's Chantilly Lace) was WB. Lace was WB/BOW on Sat and RWB on Sunday.

Cheryl Shutt and her boy  Casey (Rainyday's Fire in the Sky CD MX MXJ RS-O GS-N OAC NGC AAD SSA SR AG AJ) were also in Amarillo. Casey competed Friday -- Sunday in rally where he earned his RN. Casey's RN completed the requirements his mother (AKC CH Rainyday's Free As A Bird CGC ASCA HOF Dam) needed to become a USASA HOF Dam!

Linda Buell took her Perro (AKC/ASCA CH Rainyday's Perro Rojo) son (Woodstock's Forever in Blue Jeans) to an AKC match where he was BOBp and also earned a Group One.

Woodstock's Forever in Blue Jeans

We had a fun note from Deborah Hanson in Illinois. Sounds like her girls Remy and Marley had a great weekend!

Debbie writes:

Hi Kate, Linda and Sheila --

Be very proud of my girls!!!!!!!!!

First of all, you may now refer to Remy as Rainyday's Remy Rouge AX AXJ.

We attended the HUGE (990 runs per day) Hounds for the Holidays AKC trial in Milwaukee this weekend.  Thursday was our best day.  Remy aced the Excellent JWW course, finishing 3rd in her A class of probably ~40 dogs to achieve the AXJ title.

But that was her last Q of the weekend.  However, please read on !!!!

Marley QQed on Thursday (16 MACH points). Qed in JWW on Friday (1 pt) and QQed today (2 pts) -- now at 9 QQs and we're now over 200 points.  I have made the big decision that since she has 9 QQs since this trial last year, is having SO MUCH fun, and never drops 20" bars unless my bad handling causes her to do so (only one this long 4-day weekend), I will keep the 9.5 year old at regular height, on her quest for MACH.  We probably won't make it.  But a fleet 11 year old Collie and a 14 yr old beagle who earned MACH 10 yesterday are among our inspirations!  SO PROUD of this girl, don't know how I can ask more of her -- just want to keep her happy.

Now the story on Remy.  She had only one awful run this weekend and that was the JWW run where she broke her start stay and I was discombobulated from the beginning.  EVERY other run hinged on split-second timing that could make or break whether she qualified or not.  WE CAME SO CLOSE!!!  In every case, it was a situation of "speed kills".  One little bobble and we were toast.  Of course, the bobbles are all mine (with the exception of the broken stay).

What a fast little girl!!!!!!  Gotta love the speed  and do NOTHING to quell it!  I cannot tell you how many compliments I heard this weekend about what a nice dog she is.  Very nice dog!  What a great dog!  Such a cutie!  And these compliments came NOT from my friends [of course I expect my friends to compliment me and assuage my wounds after an NQ (only if I deserve it!) but from people I don't know or know only from reputation, some of them trainers who run superfast border collies.  And some of the comments were made as my friends were videotaping her, "what a great dog", when they had no idea that anyone who knew her was sitting nearby.

Clearly I have a superdog here.  WOW!  I strive to make myself worthy of her.

Lovin'  the challenge,

Debbie

December 3-4

Danielle Pugh and her fabulous Jackson (ASCA CH Rainyday's Remember When AKC/ASCA CD OA OAJ) attended their firs herding trial where Jackson earned his PT!

Deborah Hendrickson and her Spark (AKC/ASCA CH Rainyday's I'm On Fire HT) daughter Lace (Pacific's Chantilly Lace) picked up a 3 pt major at the Garland AKC show.

November 26-27

Burns (Rainyday's Catcher in the Rye NAJ) attended the AKC agility trial in Terrell where he qualified in novice standard on Saturday with a 2nd place. On Sunday Burns qualified for his second standard leg and also earned an open jumper's leg. His littermate Pete (UKC CH Rainyday's Hard Habit to Break NA NAJ) picked up an open jumper's leg with a second place win. Jackson (ASCA CH Rainyday's Remember When AKC/ASCA CD NA OAJ) finished his OA.

Rainyday's Kit Carson and Susan Pilney attended their first agility trial this weekend and Carson earned two legs on his NA!

We also heard that Ziggy (UKC CH Rainyday's Ziggy Stardust) was RWD to the 4 pt major at the Upper Marlboro Kennel Club show.

Up in Massachusetts Rainyday's Rockin' Robin RN TN-N CGC TDi attended her first obedience trial and earned a leg on her CD with fourth place.

November 18-20

We went to the Decatur, TX ASCA show where we had a blast. On Friday night Toby Keith (ASCA A-CH Rainyday's How Do You Like Me Now NA OAJ) was A-BOB and Pete (UKC CH Rainyday's Hard Habit to Break NA NAJ) was WD/BOS over specials.  On Saturday we joined the show. Saturday morning Toby Keith was again A-BOB, Pete was WD/BOW for a 4 pt major, Jackson (Rainyday's Remember When AKC/ASCA CD OA NAJ) was RWD and Spark (AKC/ASCA CH Rainyday's I'm On Fire HT) was BOB. Saturday evening Toby Keith repeated his A-BOB win, Mae West's 13 week old puppy Axel was BOBp, Jackson was WD to complete his ASCA championship, Pete was RWD, Spark's daughter Fame (Pacific's Miss Showbiz) was WB/BOW and her littermate sister Lace (Pacific's Chantilly Lace) was RWB. On Sunday Axel was again BOBp, Toby Keith was A-BOB, Fame was WB/BOW/BOB over seven specials and Spark was BOS to his daughter!

November 5-6

Sounds like Debbie Hanson and her girls had a great weekend. Debbie took Marley and Remy to a CPE trial where they had a wonderful time.

Debbie writes:

I'll give you a quick report on our CPE weekend Nov. 5-6 in Spring Grove, IL.  Marley was a perfect 9-for-9 (again!) -- we have finally become a very smooth team, but I wish it had come happened before she turned nine!  She's so happy and healthy, whimpering as she runs the course because she's having so much fun.  The host club announced on Saturday morning that they would be awarding High-in-Trial, and after 9/9, I thought we might have it.  Nope, it went to a JRT running at a lower level (we're in level C, have to be perfect to qualify, and she's still running at regular jump height 16"), with probably more points in the games and faster times overall than my consistent, smooth Marley.  Who knows?  Who cares?  It took 9/9 Qs to win it and at least we got there for a chance at it!

Remy was 6-for 9 for the weekend.  We are counting down legs for the CPE Championship C-ATCH title, and got two of the three possible legs we needed to get this weekend.  She now needs just 4 legs in Level 5 Standard and 1 leg in Wildcard to achieve that title.  Our goal is still to get there before she turns 4 -- we'll see.  With only one possible CPE trial per month, it will be a challenge.  But we like that!  Speed kills, and we learned that all over again this weekend, but it is a quite beautiful and fleeting thing when we put it all together to qualify.  What a fast little girl!  She makes me work!!!!!!  If I don't work hard enough, we fail.  It usually comes down to split second timing to make the difference between Q and NQ, so I keep working on it.

It was great fun!!!!

Hope you had great weekends too --

Debbie

October 29-30

We went down to Austin where we had a great time at the AKC show. On Saturday Deb Hendrickson's Spark daughter Fame (Pacific's Miss Showbiz) was RWB, our Baker (Rainyday's Desperado) was RWD and Spark (AKC/ASCA CH Rainyday's I'm On Fire HT) was BOB and on to a Group Four. Merlot (MBIS MBISS AKC/ASCA CH Rainyday's Red Red Wine) was BOB Veteran and won the Veteran's group. On Sunday Baker was WD, Ivy (ASCA CH Rainyday's For Your Eyes Only) was WB/BOW, Fame was RWB and Spark was BOB and on to a Group Four.

We also heard that Spark's daughter Ruby (ASCA CH Pacific's Ruby Slippers) finished her AKC championship with a WB/BOS win. Way to go guys!

In CA Linda Buell took her Perro (AKC/ASCA CH Rainyday's Perro Rojo) son Stitch (Woodstock's Forever in Blue Jeans) to a match where the 5 month old was not only BOB puppy but went on to win Best Puppy in Match!

October 21-23

What can I say... one weekend and SEVEN new performance titles!

Kim Waller called to let us know that Venture (AKC/ASCA CH Rainyday's Joint Venture NA NAJ CGC) completed his RN on Saturday! Way to go you guys!

Here in Lubbock we all attended the local agility trial where an incredible time was had by all. We're not sure what was more fun, the six new titles earned at the trial or the chocolate fountain Dorinda Pugh brought as a surprise :-)

On Friday Colleen Blanton and her girl Henley (Rainyday's Take it to the Limit) completed their NA title! This was their second agility trial. Colleen and Henley are quite the up and coming team!

Kari Brown ran three dogs on Friday. Her boy Pete (UKC CH Rainyday's Hard Habit to Break) qualified in jumpers to complete his NAJ title. His littermate brother Burns (Rainyday's Catcher in the Rye) also qualified in jumpers with a second place win. These boys are 15 months old and off to a great start! Kari also qualified in jumpers with our Glory (Rainyday's Morning Glory)

Danielle Pugh ran Toby Keith (ASCA A-CH Rainyday's How Do You Like Me Now? NA NAJ) and qualified for his first leg of his open standard title with a fourth place win.

On Saturday Cheryl Shutt and Casey (Rainyday's Fire in the Sky CD MX MXJ RS-O GS-N OAC NGC AAD SSA SR AG AJ) earned another Double Q! This incredible team only needs 6 more Double Q's for their MACH!

Ronda Clark DVM and her girl Lizzie (Rainyday's Walk This Way RN CD AX AXJ) earned an MXJ leg.

But the most incredible day belonged to Kari Brown of Rivyndell Australian Shepherds. Kari ran her boy Pete (UKC CH Rainyday's Hard Habit to Break NAJ) for his open debut where he earned a leg on his OAJ with a second place win. Then Pete completed his NA with another second place win! Pete's littermate  Burns (Rainyday's Catcher in the Rye) qualified in jumpers with a fourth place win to earn his NAJ! Then Kari ran Glory (Rainyday's Morning Glory NA) and completed her NAJ!

On Sunday Ronda Clark DVM and her girl Lizzie (Rainyday's Walk This Way RN CD AX AXJ) earned another MXJ leg.

Danielle Pugh ran Toby Keith (ASCA A-CH Rainyday's How Do You Like Me Now? NA NAJ) and qualified for his second leg of his open standard title with a third place win and for his third jumpers leg to complete his OAJ with another third place win. Danielle also ran Jackson (Rainyday's Remember When AKC/ASCA CD OA NAJ) who not only qualified in open jumpers, but won the class!

Kari Brown ran Pete (UKC CH Rainyday's Hard Habit to Break NAJ) and qualified in open jumpers with a first place win!

In addition... we got a note from Deborah Hanson letting us know how Marley and Remy did this weekend...

I'm bragging again about my two girls and our trial results this weekend in chilly Belvidere, IL!  Marley got two more Exc. B JWW legs and 3 MACH points (wowee, but she ran VERY well).  Remy aced JWW yesterday to get her second AXJ leg with a 1st place finish, and got her first MX leg today in excellent B standard!  She earned her first 15 MACH points with that run!  But even that far under course time, she didn't place . . . . . we are now residents of the huge 20 inch B class, also known as border collieville, sigh.  I'm still making her hold her two on/two off contacts and will do so for a while, thus we were 3+ seconds out of a 4th place finish.  I want the Q first and foremost!  It was downright cold today, in the upper 30s to start the morning, and the rain started just as we finished, so we lucked out.

October 14-16

We went up to the Enid, OK AKC shows and to the Greater Wichita Australian Shepherd Club specialties. We not only had a great time with old friends, but also had a wonderful time at the show. On Friday night, at the first of the two specialties, Spark's (AKC/ASCA CH Rainyday's I'm On Fire HT) daughter Pacific's Chantilly Lace won Best in Sweepstakes. Lace was bred and is owned by Deborah Hendrickson of Pacific Australian Shepherds. Pete (UKC CH Rainyday's Hard Habit to Break) was Best of Opposite in Sweepstakes. Pete is owned by Kari Brown of Rivyndell Australian Shepherds. Mimi (Rainyday's Time After Time) was Best of Breed Puppy at the specialty and  Ivy (ASCA CH Rainyday's For Your Eyes Only) was WB and Best Bred By Exhibitor. Merlot (MBIS MBISS AKC/ASCA CH Rainyday's Red Red Wine) came out of retirement to show in the veteran's class. Merlot went on to defeat all of the younger girls for BOS.

On Saturday we had a crazy day!  Kari Brown and Danielle Pugh competed in agility where they were quite successful. Kari's young boy Pete (UKC CH Rainyday's Hard Habit to Break) had his agility debut. Pete qualified in both standard and jumpers with fourth and third place wins. Kari also ran our boy Burns (Rainyday's Catcher in the Rye) for his debut. Burns earned a leg on his NAJ. Kari also ran our Glory (Rainyday's Morning Glory) who earned a leg on her NA with a first place win. Not to be outdone, Danielle ran Toby Keith (ASCA A-CH Rainyday's How Do You Like Me Now? NAJ) and qualified in open jumpers with a second place win.

At the AKC show, Pete was RWD to the three pt major and Ivy was RWB. Spark (AKC/ASCA CH Rainyday's I'm On Fire HT) was BOB and went on to a Group Four.

That night at the specialty we had a blast! First, Pete (UKC CH Rainyday's Hard Habit to Break) was Best in Sweepstakes. Mimi (Rainyday's Time After Time) was Best of Opposite in Sweepstakes. Spark's daughter Lace (Pacific's Chantilly Lace) was WB/BOW for a three pt major. Merlot (MBIS MBISS AKC/ASCA CH Rainyday's Red Red Wine) was BOB from the veteran's class for her fifth BISS win and Spark was BOS!

On Sunday Kari and Danielle again ran in the agility trial where Pete again qualified in both of his runs with a first and a second place win. Glory completed her NA title with a third place win! Toby Keith qualified in novice standard with a fourth place win to complete his NA! He also qualified in open jumpers with a third place win. Jackson (Rainyday's Remember When AKC/ASCA CD OA NAJ) qualified in open jumpers with a second place win!

At the conformation show, Danielle's Jackson was WD/BOW, Pete was RWD, Deborah Hendrickson's Spark daughter Fame (Pacific's Miss Showbizz) was WB/BOS (over a special) and Spark was BOB. Spark went on to a Group Three that afternoon!

In Massachusetts, Donna Killum's boy Dash (Rainyday's Country Boy RN CD CL1F HC TDinc TT) attended his first NADAC agility trial where he qualified in jumpers (4th place), regular novice (2nd place) and gamblers (2nd place). The trial was canceled after the first day due to severe weather conditions, but we are looking forward to more great things from Dash.

October 8 - 9

Danielle Pugh and her boys attended an AKC agility trial where Toby Keith (ASCA A-CH Rainyday's How Do You Like Me Now?) qualified in novice jumpers with a second place win to complete his NAJ title! This new title also earned his sire Merlin (Peppertree's Magic By Moonlight DNA-CP) his ROM X I. On Sunday Toby qualified in novice standard with a third place win.

Courtney's Token (AKC CH Rainyday's Reason to Believe) was BOB on Sunday over 8 specials and made the cut in the group.

Debbie Hanson and her girls attended an AKC agility trial where they had a blast. Debbie writes:

Hi Kate and Linda --

I feel the need to rave about the weekend my girls had at an AKC trial in Merrillville, IN this weekend!  Marley was perfect, with two QQs and 26 MACH points!  Just when I think about retiring the "old girl", she gives me a fast (for her), perfect weekend on tough AKC Excellent courses.  She absolutely loves the soccer turf.  I had a goal of keeping her in the regular height division at least until the end of the year.  But if we keep doing this well, maybe we'll keep at this a bit longer before I move her to Novice Preferred.  Her totals now are 7 QQs (all since last December) and I'm guessing about 180 MACH points.  I should just never run her in AKC in the summer and boy I wish all trials were on that soccer turf!

Remy finished her AX title on Saturday with an absolutely beautiful run!  She was the only dog in her class of about fifteen 20" A-dogs to qualify, so 1st place!!  I didn't think we'd do so well on a very tight, very trappy course.  But it was great!  Then yesterday, in her first foray into the ring as a "B-dog", she had a fabulous run -- I stepped into her path and caused her to drop a bar, but the rest of the run was to die for!  And in JWW, we had glitches, but they weren't awful.

We usually don't do so well on AKC courses, but now I say "bring 'em on"!!  All of a sudden, I want to do more AKC! (I must be delusional . . . .) We do CPE next weekend, though, and the next AKC is Oct. 22-23, outside.

Enough raving for now, but boy it was fun!

Debbie

Spark kids also had a great weekend. In CO, daughter Diva (UKC CH Outlaw's Totally Divine) was WB/BOW for her first ASCA major at one show and RWB to the major at the other show. Diva was bred and is owned by Sherree Sanchez of Outlaw.

Son River was BOBP and BOSP at the ASCA show in Washington state. River was bred and is owned by Lisa Nicholson of Angeldew.

September 24-25

Cheryl Morgan took her girl Cinder (Rainyday's FairyTalePrincess) to an AKC show where she was WB/BOS to complete her AKC championship! Way to go guys!

Ronda Clark DVM and Lizzie (Rainyday's Walk This Way RN AX AXJ) attended an AKC agility trial where Lizzie not only earned her first double Q, but won both of her excellent B classes!

September 17-18

We also had an update from Cheryl Shutt who wrote about her boy Casey (Rainyday's Fire in the Sky CD MX MXJ RS-O GS-N OAC NGC AAD SSA SR AG AJ). Cheryl wrote:

Just wanted to let you know that I got some good news this week. After running the final round in Grand Prix at the USDAA regionals I did not wait around for the results. On the USDAA website they listed the results and we got 18th place which gives him a bid into the semifinal round at the nationals. There were about 80 dogs competing at the 22" jump height and all were border collies except for 6 aussies and 1 golden.

September 10-11

Ronda Clark's little girl Lizzie (Rainyday's Walk This Way AX AXJ) went to Roswell, NM where she completed her RN title with two perfect scores.

Karyn Jones writes:

Just to let you know that Robin added some more Q’s this weekend.  We entered a USDAA trial on Sunday and she came home with a Q and 3rd place in Performance 1 Gamblers and a Q and 3rd place in Performance 1 Standard.  We could have had a hat trick but after waiting 4 hrs in between each of her runs Jumpers  just seemed to come too late in the day as we were both tired and she knocked down some bars. We have trials the next 5 weekends in a row.  Hoping to finally finish up some Nadac titles!!!  Will keep you posted on how she does.

Karyn

Charlie and Lynn De La Torre's Bryce (ASCA CH Rainyday's Great Ambition) is on a roll -- he earned another WD win this weekend!

Karyn and Richard Jones' Robin (Rainyday's Rockin Robin) had her obedience debut this weekend where she earned two legs on her RN title. Robin has legs on multiple agility titles as well and is living up to her nickname of Rocket Robin. She will be out again this fall looking for the last legs she needs to complete a variety of titles! Karen writes:

Robin and I competed in our first ever (both her and I) obedience competition.  We came away with two RN legs and a couple of days before that received another Q and 1st place toward her
TN-N.  So far we have accumulated 12 Q's but have not connected for a title yet.  We will get there eventually, although August is a quiet month here as not much goes on b/c of the heat. (I guess we are not as tough as you Texans!!!)

Another thing –Robin and I made the local paper. We were asked to be a part of a pilot program for our local library.  It is were children that are reluctant readers either read or tell stories to the dogs.  We were asked b/c they know that Robin is a certified therapy dog.  We start this on Friday.  I felt pretty honored.  Maybe our pic will be in the paper next week and I will forward that along to you.

Thanks again for a wonderful dog that is loved and wanted by many!!!

P.S. almost forgot to tell you-at agility my instructor ran her through a course and almost had to cancel the next class because she almost dropped dead from exhaustion after running her.  Ha, ha !!!

Karyn and the red rocket.

July 2-3

Deborah Hendrickson and her Spark kids went to the huge ASCA show in WA where they had a great time. The youngsters, Fame, Pyro and Lace each won and/or placed well in their large classes and Scarlet (AKC/ASCA CH Pacific's Scarlet O'Hara) earned a BOB win (over 130 dogs entered) and a BOS. Wow!

Just had an update from Cheryl Shutt who writes:

It has been awhile since I have written. I thought I would fill you in one what we have been doing.

I have been to 3 USDAA trials since March. Casey has earned a SSA, SG, SR, and AD which stand for Starters Standard Agility, Starters Gambler, Starters Relay, and Agility Dog which means he got his SSA and qualified in each of the 4 games. He also has 2 standard and 1 gamblers leg in Advanced. He has also qualified to attend the USDAA Nationals in Grand Prix and Steeplechase. We will go to a tournament in Aug. and regionals in Sept. to try to qualify in the 3 man dam team. Then we will go the the Nationals in Nov.

We haven't been to a lot of AKC but Casey is now up to 600 MACH points and 12 double Q's. He needs 750 points and 20 double Q's for his MACH.

Wow!  Casey (Rainyday's Fire in the Sky CD MX MXJ RS-O OAC GS-N NGC AD SSA SG SR) and Cheryl have certainly been busy! We have high hopes that Casey will be the first Rainyday MACH!

June 11-12

We stayed home again this weekend but heard great things from all over the place. Danielle Pugh, Kari Brown and Teri Boedeker all attended the AKC agility trial in Hutto.

Danielle's 19 month old Jackson (Rainyday's Remember When CD) qualified in his standard class on Saturday with a 2nd place win to complete his NA. On Sunday Jackson was moved up to open standard where he qualified with a 3rd place win.

Danielle also showed Toby Keith (ASCA A-CH Rainyday's How Do You Like Me Now?) for his debut. Toby Keith qualified in both his standard and jumpers runs on Saturday 9with a 2nd place win in jumpers) and in his jumpers run on Sunday (with a third place win). We'd like to congratulate Danielle and her mother, Dorinda Pugh, on their decision to make Toby Keith a permanent part of their family.

Kari showed our girl Glory (Rainyday's Morning Glory) for her debut trial. Glory earned legs on her standard and jumpers titles with a 3rd place standard win and a 4th place jumpers win.

Teri showed her boy Colt (Rainyday's Colt 45 NA NAJ JS-N NJC TN-N) and qualified in 5 out of 6 runs!

We also hear that Deborah Hendrickson had a great time at the ASCA show in WA where her Spark daughter  Fame (Pacific's Miss Showbizz) picked up another WB/BOW/BOS win for 2 more points.

June 4-5

We stayed home this weekend but hear that other people had a blast at shows. Deborah Hendrickson took her Spark (AKC/ASCA CH Rainyday's I'm On Fire HT) daughter Fame (Pacific's Miss Showbizz) to an ASCA show where the 13 month old picked up a three pt major.

Debbie Hanson attended the CPE nationals with her girls, Remy (Rainyday's Remy Rouge OA OAJ CL3 CL4-F CL4-S CL4-H) and Marley (U-ACH Rainyday's Life On Mars AX AXJ OAC-O OJC-O NGC-O OGC PI AD JV-O RV-O GV-N CL1 CL2 CL3 C-ATCH CGC). They had a blast!

Debbie writes:

Hi Kate and Linda  --

I can hardly wait to broadcast this news!  Marley was 9-for-9 this weekend at CPE Nationals!  She ended up with awards for High-in-Standard Level C (16") and 2nd place High-in-Games for all 16" dogs!  When that was announced, I knew we had a good chance for High-in-Trial.  There were three dogs (of 374 entered) that were perfect for the weekend.  One of them won HIT-veteran, one was HIT regular, and the other was Marley!  It came down to a comparison of seconds under course time for each run, and we lost out to the 24" HIT winner.  We got to run in the Championship Standard run, and she turned in another clean run -- great fun!  I don't know how I could ask any more of a 9 year old, very furry black dog who was running in the 90 degree heat yesterday afternoon. Very proud!!  At least I did my job for her this weekend.

Remy ended up with 5 Qs in 9 runs, with legs in level 4 Standard (her first leg!), level 5 Jumpers (4th place), level 5 Snooker (3rd place), level 5 Colors (4th place), and level C Fullhouse (2nd place -- she beat her sister's butt!!).  The courses were tough and she ran very well up there with the big dogs, but we still have a lot to work on.

Not a bad weekend!!

I have some cool new photos of the both of them to scan and send your way.  You must promise me that you will update Marley's website photos with a great one of the jumping 9-year-old showing her enduring zest for this great sport!!

What wonderful dogs I have -- thank you so much for the both of them!!

Debbie

May 27-30

We went to OK to the Shawnee AKC show where we had a blast.  On Friday Cheryl Morgan and Kathy O'Malley's girl Cinder (Rainyday's FairyTalePrincess) was RWB and Spark (AKC/ASCA CH Rainyday's I'm On Fire HT) was BOS. On Saturday Cinder was WB/BOW for a three pt major (she only needs one pt to finish) and Spark was BOS. On Sunday Ivy (ASCA CH Rainyday's For Your Eyes Only) was RWB to the three pt major and Spark was BOS and on Sunday Ivy was WB for a three pt major and Spark was BOB.

Back in TX Danielle Pugh attended the Friday night ASCA show where Toby Keith (ASCA A-CH Rainyday's How Do You Like Me Now?) was BOB. Danielle and Kari Brown spent the weekend at a USDAA agility trial where their boys had a blast. Danielle's boy Jackson (Rainyday's Remember When CD) earned two standard legs toward his AD. This was his first USDAA trial.

About her boy, Kari writes:

I took the speed demon to a USDAA agility trial looking for that last standard leg for our AD title.  The first day of the trial it was pouring down so hard that we could barely see.  Indi and I were soaked to the bone the moment we stepped out of the tent.  This was our first time EVER to play in the rain and I really had no idea how it would go.  Indi qualified with 2nd place, fractions of a second off 1st!!  He not only received his SSA title but his AD TITLE!!  The Frog Dog can swim!!!

Indi is now : AKC/ASCA/BIS UKC CH Rainyday's No Speed Limit OA OAJ RS-O OAC JS-E EJC GS-O OGC TN-E SJ SSA AD

Spark's daughter Fancy (Pacific's Winds of Guardian) picked up a five pt ASCA major bringing her to a total of 12 points (three majors) at 13 months of age.

And in CA, Linda Grant took her 4 month old Alsi (Rainyday's A'L C Bout That) to an ASCA show where she earned a BOBp win.

May 21-22

We stayed home this weekend but Mary Mynaugh and her boy Ziggy (UKC CH Rainyday's Ziggy Stardust) had a great weekend. They attended the Mattaponi AKC show where Ziggy was WD/BOW/BOB!

May 14-15

We went over to New Mexico where we had a blast! On Saturday we attended the AKC show where Poppy (Rainyday's Awesome Blossom) was WB/BOW for a three pt major and Spark (AKC/ASCA CH Rainyday's I'm On Fire HT) was BOB. Spark then made the cut in the group.  That night we went to an ASCA show where Poppy was WB/BOW to finish her ASCA championship and Spark was BOS. At Sunday's AKC show Poppy was WB/BOW for a three pt major to finish her AKC championship and Ivy (ASCA CH Rainyday's For Your Eyes Only) was RWB.

We hear that Sam (Rainyday's Samuel Adams AX AXJ RS-O JS-O GS-N OAC OJC NGC) finished his Rally Novice title this weekend and that Remy (Rainyday's Remy Rouge NA NAJ CL3 CL4-F CL4-S CL4-H) earned her OA and OAJ titles with two second place wins!

In addition, Dash (Rainyday's Country Boy CD CGC) earned a leg on his Rally Novice title and Marley (U-ACH Rainyday's Life On Mars AX AXJ OAC-O OJC-O NGC-O OGC PI AD JV-O RV-O GV-N CL1 CL2 CL3 C-ATCH CGC picked up a few more MACH points.

May 7-8

We went down to College Station to the Eastex ASCA show where we had a great time. On Friday night Danielle Pugh and her boy Jackson (Rainyday's Remember When) were WD/BOW for a 4 pt major. Danielle also showed Toby Keith (ASCA A-CH Rainyday's How Do You Like Me Now?) to a BOB win. We joined them the next day when Jackson earned his ASCA CD! Our boy Perro (AKC CH Rainyday's Perro Rojo) was WD/BOW for a five pt major and then went on to BOB over 6 specials! Our girl Poppy (Rainyday's Awesome Blossom) was RWB to the five pt major. Toby Keith repeated his BOB win. Due to a miscalculation Poppy is back in the ring in search of one more point and we are sure she will earn it soon. On Sunday Danielle's Jackson was RWD to the 4 pt major, Poppy was RWB to the 5 pt major and Toby Keith was A-BOS.

In other areas... Deborah Hendrickson's 10 month old Spark (AKC/ASCA CH Rainyday's I'm On Fire HT) daughter Fame (Pacific's Miss Showbizz) was WB/BOW at an ASCA show and Ronda Clark's Lizzie (Rainyday's Walk This Way OA OAJ) finished her AXJ.

We also heard from Debbie Hanson who went to a CPE agility trial with her girls Remy (Rainyday's Remy Rouge NA NAJ CL2-H CL3-S CL1-R CL3-F) and Marley (U-ACH Rainyday's Life On Mars AX AXJ OAC-O OJC-O NGC-O OGC PI AD JV-O RV-O GV-N CL1 CL2 CL3 C-ATCH CGC. Debbie writes:

We just finished a great weekend of CPE trials in gorgeous spring weather in Crown Point, IN.  We ended up with 16 Qs in 19 runs.  Remy polished off Level 3 Standard in one weekend with three clean runs in four attempts.  So now she has all level 3 titles, thus is "CL3".  In addition, she finished games titles CL4-H and CL4-S with final Qs in Wildcard (2) and Jackpot, and already had the CL4-F title last summer.  My goal was to get her to Level 4 in Standard in time for the CPE Nationals coming up in about 3 weeks.  We did it!  Now she'll be playing with the big dogs, all at levels 4, 5, or C for classes at Nationals -- a challenge for us both!

Marley just keeps on qualifying, all in level C where all runs must be clean.  Sometimes I think she'll be in level C for the next decade or so, but she is probably over 1/3 of the way done towards the next big level C title.  The videos showed that she was very bouncy and having fun all weekend, something I love to see in one who celebrates birthday #9 this Thursday!!

April 30 - May 1

Another weekend at home :-) We hear that Spark's (AKC/ASCA CH Rainyday's I'm On Fire HT) 10 month old daughter Fancy (Pacific's Winds of Guardian) had a great weekend. This was her second show and she was WB, BOW, and BOS at the afternoon show over a  bitch special that took breed that morning.  Fancy has 7 ASCA points now (4 points today, just shy of 5 by one bitch).

April 23-24

Another weekend at home :-) But Kari Brown's puppy Pete (Rainyday's Hard Habit to Break) attended his second UKC show where he was Best Male to complete his UKC championship!

A huge thank you goes out to Heather Herron who handled Spark in the final cuts of breed competition.

Merlot (MBIS MBISS AKC/ASCA CH Rainyday's Red Red Wine) not only won Best Veteran in Sweepstakes, but also won one of the seven AOM awards in breed competition (from the veteran's class).

Poppy (Rainyday's Awesome Blossom) placed 4th in the tough Bred by exhibitor bitch class.

Danielle Pugh and her young boy Jackson (Rainyday's Remember When) had a fantastic time at their first nationals. Jackson placed fourth in American Bred Dogs, 2nd in Novice A Obedience (with a Q), 2nd in Novice Standard Agility (with a Q) and 3rd in Novice Jumpers Agility (with a Q). Way to go you two!

Deborah Hendrickson's 10 month old Spark daughter Fame (Pacific's Miss Showbiz) placed fourth in the American bred bitch class, shown by Danielle Pugh.

Spark's son Torch (AKC/ASCA CH Shalako's A Thrill to Remember), owned by Patsy King and bred by Shelly Hollen, had his AKC agility debut at nationals. Torch was entered for one day only and placed 1st in Standard Novice B with a clean run and 2nd in Novice Jumpers. During his run a 25 ft section of metal fencing collapsed into the ring. He never broke stride and managed to run clean despite the hullabaloo!

Glory (Rainyday's Morning Glory) made the cut in the Open blue bitch class.

And in Illinois, Debbie Hanson's girls Remy (Rainyday's Remy Rouge NA NAJ CL2-H CL3-S CL1-R CL3-F) and Marley (U-ACH Rainyday's Life On Mars AX AXJ OAC-O OJC-O NGC-O OGC PI AD JV-O RV-O GV-N CL1 CL2 CL3 C-ATCH CGC attended a USDAA trial. Debbie writes:

We ended up with 3 Qs.  Marley got legs in Advanced Gamblers (2nd place!) and Advanced Jumpers, and Remy got a leg in Starters Jumpers.  Yes, the old girl can still jump 22" and she doesn't drop bars unless my bad handling causes her to do so.  Remy at least is slowed down a little by 22" bars, thank goodness!

March 26-27

We went to the FT Worth AKC show where we had a good time with friends. On Saturday AKC CH Rainyday's Tinsel Town was BOB and on Sunday AKC/ASCA CH Rainyday's I'm On Fire HT was BOS.

We also hear that it was a great weekend elsewhere. Spark's (AKC/ASCA CH Rainyday's I'm On Fire HT) daughter Fancy (Pacific Winds Of Guardian) took Winner's Bitch and Best Of Winners at her first show weekend for a 3 pt. ASCA  major!

We also heard from Richard and Karyn Jones that their girl Robin (Rainyday's Rockin Robin) had her agility debut at an ASCA/NADAC trial. Robin had three runs and Karyn writes:

  1. Novice Jumpers- Q - first place -beating the first dog by a whole ten seconds!!!!
  2. Novice Regular -1/2 Q –fourth place-knocked down a bar and she did the weave poles!!!!
  3. Novice Regular-1/2 Q-no placement-knocked down a bar again but was her better run.

So got three qualifying ribbons for 3 runs. 2 placement ribbons and 3 toys.  I really couldn’t have

Asked for a better day.  Richard and I had a glow on the whole ride home not just on how she did in

Our new visitor Icee (Can CH Peppertree's Fire N Ice PT STDs) showed in the adult match where she won the group. On Sunday Icee was WB. AKC CH Rainyday's Tinsel Town was BOB both days. While we are proud of Cooper's accomplishments, we must admit that we are disgusted to learn that he has puppies in multiple MO puppy mills.

It's braggin' time from the IKC show at McCormick Place this weekend!  The girls and I were there all three days.  I was hoping Marley and I could get those three legs we needed to finish MX and MXJ.  It would be fitting since we started at the IKC show in 2000 -- this is our 6th IKC and the show is run by the club that I belong to.

We ended up with 7 Qs in 12 runs -- pretty darn good for us!  On Friday, Marley finished MX with a Q in Exc. B Standard.  Then there were those 3 NQs that day also . . .

On Saturday, Marley double-Qed, and I qualified Remy in Open Standard (2nd place) for her first leg.

On Sunday, Remy double-Qed, taking 1st in Open JWW (leg #2) and 2nd in Open Standard (leg #2).  Then Marley capped of the weekend beautifully with a Q in Exc. B JWW to finish MXJ!!  She picked up 27 more MACH points this weekend so her total is now 129.  She'll be earning them all the hard way since she never places in the 20 inch class dominated by border collies.

February 5
