June 26-27

Sounds like Danielle and Dorinda had a great time at the ASCA show in Hutto with Kathleen:

Congrats to everyones wins this weekend! It was great to hang out with Kathleen and Flat Kate and Flat Star (inside joke, lol).
We had a great weekend.
Toby Keith (ASCA A-MBISS A-CH Rainyday's How Do You Like Me Now? AKC/ASCA CD RA OA OAJ NAO NJP JS-E RS-E GS-E NAC NJP TG-N WN-N CGC) picked up 4 A-BOB wins, finished his ASCA RN and picked up his first RA leg. Tucker (A-CH Rainyday's You Just Watch Me CD RN NA NAJ RS-O JS-O GS-N NAC TG-N TN-N CGC)  earned his RN.
Trace (Rainyday's I Got My Game On ASCA CD RE RS-N GS-O JS-O STDs) earned his RN and his first RA leg with a few placements in huge classes. He also went WD/BOW today for another point towards his ASCA CH.  Jackson (SVCH PCH ATCH WTCH AKC/ASCA CH Rainyday's Remember When AKC/ASCA CDX RE AX AXJ RS-E-OP JS-E-OP GS-E-OP EAC NJC NGC TG-O WV-O TN-N HIAs HSAcd RTDs) also earned his RN and an RA leg also. Saturday AM he went high in trial and high scoring Aussie with a 198 out of Novice B rally. Today he was high scoring Aussie out of Advanced B with a 199 (lost high in trial by one point to a very good sheltie...and we had the faster time...ugh, lol). We had a blast with our first try at ASCA Rally. The first day there were a few kinks that had to be worked out (it was the first official ASCA rally trial in Texas) but the rest of the weekend was really smooth!
Hope everyone had a great weekend!!

-Danielle and the boys

Kathleen Holt also wrote in about her weekend:

Hi all,

The girls and I went to the first ASCA Rally in Texas this weekend, in Hutto. With four trials, both girls earned their RN titles, and Keelin (Rainyday's Nobody Does It Better AKC/ASCA CD RA NAC TN-N CGC) earned a leg towards her RA title. Two of Keelin's novice legs were RNX for scores over 195. I messed up one of Tessa's (A-CH Rainyday's Busby Babe NAJ NJP GS-O NAC OJC NCC TG-N TN-O WV-N PJII CGC) runs by blowing right by a sign (silly handler).

ASCA Rally is fun, and I can't wait to go to more!

June 17-20

We went down to San Antonio for the AKC show and had a great time. Our new client dog, Lucky, was WD/BOW on Thursday. Ivy (AKC/ASCA CH Rainyday's For Your Eyes Only) was BOS at three shows and also won a Select Award, picking up GCH points.

And awesome news from Tim and Debbie Parks in WA:

Hi all, Tim and I would like to announce our new Champion-"Hope" AKA CH Rainyday's Ain't She Sweet. We have been to Filer, Idaho
and yesterday she was WB for 2 points, and today she went WB/BOS for another 2 points. We are very excited. She was shown by our
exceptional handler, Tiffany Skinner, to whom we are very grateful. On to agility now. Extremely happy -Tim and Debbie Parks

June 12-13

Note from Danielle Pugh about the weekend:

Hey everyone :)

We went to College Station, TX for an ASCA conformation and agility trial.
Toby Keith (ASCA A-MBISS A-CH Rainyday's How Do You Like Me Now? AKC/ASCA CD RA OA OAJ NAO NJP JS-E RS-E GS-E NAC NJP TG-N WN-N CGC) went Best Veteran and Altered Best of Breed at all four shows for about 75 breed points and also picked up an elite gamble leg and 1.5 elite regular legs. Trace (Rainyday's I Got My Game On ASCA CD RE RS-N GS-O JS-O STDs) picked up an open regular leg and now only needs .5 legs for his title. Kate also let me show Ivy (AKC/ASCA CH Rainyday's For Your Eyes Only) on Saturday and she picked up a Best of Opposite win.

Hope everyone else had a great weekend. I believe Laura and Mayzie and Phoenix  have some bragging to do!!! Star also finished one of her non-rainyday altered boys getting
two majors on Saturday!!! Thanks for letting me brag :)

-Danielle and the boys

And it sounds like Laura McClary had a great weekend too:

Hi everyone:

Phoenix needed 1 1/2 Regular legs to finish his ATCH II this weekend.  He got 1 leg on Saturday.  Then Sunday morning he got a second 10 pt leg and finished his ATCH II.

Mayzie (Rainyday's Maybe I'm Amazed RS-N JS-O GS-N)  finished her Open Gamblers title.  She's self-releasing from contacts, so we blew several of her Open Regular runs to train that.  She's in Elite Jumpers, but dropped a bar in the loose dirt on Saturday.  On Sunday, Elite Jumpers was a very fast flat out course, that turned into serpentines, and she wasn't able to collect in time.

And in Illinois, Debbie Hanson and the girls had another great weekend:

Hi Everybody --

First of all, congratulations to Danielle and boys and Ivy for the wins!  And I'll be looking forward to hearing about the other brags she mentioned :)

We went just north of the IL border to Union Grove, WI this weekend for a USDAA trial.  It was outdoors at the county fairgrounds and while the weather each day was totally NOT what was predicted (sheesh), we really lucked out considering what was happening at home.  Remy (MACH C-ATCH Rainyday's Remy Rouge  XF C-ATE JM CGC) and Flicka (Rainyday's You've Got a Friend AX AXJ OF PJ1 CL3)now run the same Masters courses (finally!) with Remy running in Championship 22" and Flicka running in Performance 16".  We did team stuff on Friday -- Remy on a DAM team with two other dogs running in the Championship division and Flicka on a PVP team with one other Performance dog.  While neither of our teams qualified :(, they did well and we mostly held up our part of the team deal.  On Sat/Sun, Remy earned legs in Masters Standard, Masters Jumpers, and two in Masters Snooker.  With one more Standard leg, she will be MAD!  Flicka earned her first two legs in P3 Standard, two in P3 Jumpers, a leg in P3 Pairs Relay, and a leg in P3 Snook er.

Helix greeted lots of human and canine strangers, was snuggled by just about every one of the 4-H kids that were there to help, and got lots and lots of smooches.  It just occurred to me a few days ago that all of a sudden she is BIG!  While I keep waiting for her legs to sprout and her to go all gangly, she is still remarkably well-proportioned.  I don't think she closed an eye all day today!  When we got home, I could tell she was almost begging me to put her in her crate so that she could pass out!

I think I will join her soon, but just had to brag on them for a while first :) --

 Debbie

Also in Illinois:

Hi Kate –

Stella (Rainyday's A Streetcar Named Desire)  passed her Herding Instinct Test (of course) with flying colors.  The ‘tester’ wrote on her sheet “cutest li’l thing’.  She explained that she had a Border Collie for 17 years that held that Cutest Li’l Thing title, but recently had to put the dog down.  She said Stella was a perfect candidate to carry that title forward.  My girlfriend Lynne took pictures, so I’ll forward those when I get them from her.

A lot of dogs were in the ring for 10-15 minutes for their test.  Stella was in the ring for maybe 2 when Dana and I found ourselves face to face with 3 big sheep when the instructor stopped the test and said.  “She brought the sheep you, Mom.  That’s exactly what she should do.”

I’ll look for an AKC test place, I think.  That was pretty fun/interesting, even though Stella’s turn was pretty short.

I hope you’re doing great and enjoying the summer!

 Pam, Dana and Stella

Sounds like Danielle and Dorinda Pugh had a great time at the CO Classic! Danielle writes:

We attended the Colorado Classic in Kiowa, CO which consisted of conformation, obedience, stock and agility. Toby Keith (ASCA A-MBISS A-CH Rainyday's How Do You Like Me Now? AKC/ASCA CD RA OA OAJ NAO NJP JS-E RS-E GS-E NAC NJP TG-N WN-N CGC) came home with two JV-E, two GV-E and one RV-E legs towards his ATCH. He also picked up five A-BOB's and two Best Veterans. He won the High Point Altered Dog award on Saturday, tied for Overall High Point Veteran and also won the ASCA Best In Show competition on Sunday. This was a competition where all of the Intact, Altered, Veteran, and Puppy Best of Breed winners from the AM and PM shows competed together under a new judge for BIS. It was a great honor to be in the ring with some beautiful dogs.  Trace (Rainyday's I Got My Game On ASCA CD RE RS-N GS-O JS-O STDs) had a busy weekend. He picked up two GS-O legs to finish his title and also earned 1.5 RS-O legs and one JS-E leg. He qualified both runs on Saturday to finish his STDs and earned an extra CD leg with a 3rd place. He also came in second place in the MVA competition (lost by 1 point!!!).  Tony (AKC/ASCA CH Rainyday's Make My Heart Sing AKC/ASCA CD RA STDs) earned a Best of Breed win, a Best of Opposite win and two premier awards. He also won the Overall Highpoint Conformation Dog with a stockdog title. Wow, what a busy weekend!!

In other parts of the country,  Jackson (SVCH PCH ATCH WTCH AKC/ASCA CH Rainyday's Remember When AKC/ASCA CDX RE AX AXJ RS-E-OP JS-E-OP GS-E-OP EAC NJC NGC TG-O WV-O TN-N HIAs HSAcd RTDs) stayed home and went with our friend Nancy Lane to a USDAA trial in Dallas, TX. He came home with five Q's and several first places. Thanks Nancy!!

We also had a great note from Kathleen Holt who also attended the CO Classic. Kathleen writes:

Hi all,

This Memorial Day weekend I went to Kiowa, CO with Danielle and Dorinda. First, let me say that Danielle and Dorinda ROCK!!! We had so much fun, and they were so helpful to me this weekend.

Tessa (A-CH Rainyday's Busby Babe NAJ NJP GS-O NAC OJC NCC TG-N TN-O WV-N PJII CGC)  was entered in conformation, novice obedience and agility. We had no success in the conf ring, but it was a good experience for us. In obedience, Tessa was acted like she'd never been on a leash for the heelwork~until the leash came off, and she heeled like a pro~go figure. She was awesome in all the other exercises, but obviously we didn't Q. On the second day, after some remedial work, she was better at the leash heel (barely), but enough to earn a Q, for our first CD leg. In agility, On the first day she earned Qs in Nov Gamblers (for her Nov title), Nov Jumpers and Nov Standard, which earned her the High In Trial Nov ribbon for that day. On the second day, we moved up to Open Gamblers, and got a Q. Our other runs were 'practice' on contacts and stays, but we had some good work. But that one gamblers Q was enough to earn her the Nov HIT for the day again! On Sunday we Qs again in Open gamblers for our Open title. Again, our other runs were q-less, but that one Open Q was enough for Nov HIT again! I was proud of my girl and her attitude all weekend.

Keelin (Rainyday's Nobody Does It Better AKC/ASCA CD RA NAC TN-N CGC) was entered in Open obedience and agility. We did obed on Sat, and she was awesome on her out-of-sight long sit/down stays (I was so proud!). Unfortunately we weren't exactly ready with our dumbbell work, but she gave it a good try, going out to it, just couldn't get it all the way back. Her recall/down and heelwork was great. At the second trial, she busted her sit stay, then 'visited' another do on her down stay, so I chose not to attempt our ring work, as I had agility & conf runs at the same time. She didn't earn any Qs in agility, but had some nice runs. It was really hot on Sat & Sun, and the trial was outdoors, so I think the heat was a bit much for her. But again, I'm so proud of how she handled the weekend traveling and playing with her brother and 'cousins'.

Overall, an awesome weekend, and I really enjoyed making new ASCA friends. Hope everyone else had an awesome weekend!
Kathleen

Quick note from Debbie Hanson on the girls' success at CPE nationals:

Remy (MACH C-ATCH Rainyday's Remy Rouge  XF C-ATE JM CGC)  ended up 6-for-9 running in Level C and Flicka (Rainyday's You've Got a Friend AX AXJ OF PJ1 CL3)  was 7-for-9 in Level 5 or C.  Both girls brought home plaques for 3rd place in games, Remy for the 20" dogs and Flicka for the 16" dogs.  They are remarkably equal!!  I was pleased that when they qualified, they usually earned placements.  And I was pleased with myself that I didn't lose my brain and get the dreaded whistle in Snooker when Flicka dropped a bar on the #7 jump-weaves combo in the middle of the opening period!  She qualified!!

Helix turned out to be a really good traveler!

We also heard from Lisa Renville in CA. Sounds like her young Spark (AKC/ASCA CH Rainyday's I'm On Fire HT) daughter Taylor had a great weekend!

Hi Linda & Kate…Taylor won a Best Puppy at a large ASCA show yesterday afternoon.  Non-Regular Breeder Judge Kathyn Ross-Nash.  There were around 20 puppies so I was very pleased with the win.  She is sooo sound.  Pictures soon…

Have a great day,

Lisa Renville

Lakehill's Taylor Swift

Debbie and Tim Parks took Hope (Rainyday's Ain't She Sweet) to an AKC show in Yakima where she was RWB both days. Hope only needs 3 singles to finish her AKC championship, and then it is on to her performance career!

May 22-23

Erin Holley's boy Nolan (Rainyday's Nolan Ryan RN) earned another AKC WD and RWD win this weekend in Jackson, TN. Nolan now has 6 AKC pts.

April 30 - May 2

Danielle Pugh sent an update:

We attended an ASCA conformation show and stockdog trial in Whitesboro, TX. Tony (AKC/ASCA CH Rainyday's Make My Heart Sing AKC/ASCA CD RA STDs) finished his STDs and also picked up a BOS win on Friday night. Toby Keith (ASCA A-MBISS A-CH Rainyday's How Do You Like Me Now? AKC/ASCA CD RA OA OAJ NAO NJP JS-E RS-E GS-E NAC NJP TG-N WN-N CGC) picked up two  BOB wins. Trace (Rainyday's I Got My Game On ASCA CD RE RS-N GS-O JS-O STDs) earned one leg towards his STDs with a 3rd place and also went RWD to a 4 point major on Sunday. What a great weekend!!

Rainyday's I Got My Game On CD RE RS-N GS-O JS-O STDs

And we received a great note from Linda Grant:

Hi everyone,

Well, yesterday Elki (Rainyday's C Ya At Da Top CD HSAs STDc ATDsd JS-N CGC)  and Bruce finished their Open Cattle title in ASCA with a first place, and immediately moved up to Advanced.  Elki needs just two Advanced Cattle legs for her ASCA Working Trial Championship (WTCH, "Witch").

Today, they got one leg in the morning trial with a nice score and a 3rd place.  The afternoon trial was not as good, so no WTCH this weekend.   Met some Rainyday dogs and owners (Perro x Hattie ?) and another exhibitor had a Rainyday dog at home, but never got back with her to find out who it was.

We are entered at another trial in two weeks, so maybe we will have another brag then.

Congratulations to everyone these past few weeks, and I'm totally enjoying all the photos and videos.

Linda
Alsi and Elki

And a fabulous note from Erin Holley:

Hi gang!

I'm at nationals and having a blast. Sooo many gorgeous aussies.

Nolan (Rainyday's Nolan Ryan RN) had 2 Q's in rally novice, scores of 97 and 98, finished his title, and one 3rd place.

Wes (Spark son, Pacific's Western Sunset) had 2 Q's in rally advanced and finished his title. His scores were not as good due to handler errors. He said he forgives me though. (Grin)

April 23-25

Fantastic note from Debbie and Tim Parks:

Hi Kate and Linda,
We are so proud of Hope (Rainyday's Ain't She Sweet), she was winners bitch/Best Of Opposite yesterday at the Lewiston, ID show for a 4 point major!!! She was shown by Tiffany
Skinner, and looked MARVELOUS! HA This is a 4 day show with majors every day, so we are hopeful for more. We are very proud of our beautiful girl. Thank you again. She is such a trip. Debbie and Tim

Day two:

Hope won BW and BOS again today!!! We are on cloud 9.

Day three:

Thank you so much! It was another 4 pointer today so that makes 12. We are so happy. One more show tomorrow that is looking like a 2 pointer.
This weekend is one we will never forget. Thanks again for your support. Debbie

April 17-18

Great news from Laura McClary - Mayzie (Rainyday's I'm Amazed) recently earned her RS-N JS-O and GS-N titles! Way to go guys! In other news... Nellie Morack's girl Izzy (CKC/UKC CH Rainyday's In Your Dreams) was RWB to the AKC major again today.

April 10-11

Heard from Cherie Gessford that Reva (Rainyday's Sierra Sunrise RA CL1 CL2 CL3-H CL-3S CL3-F GS-N JS-N CGC) earned her first RA leg with a first place win!

Nice note and some photos from Kathleen Holt:

Hey,

Keelin (Rainyday's Nobody Does It Better AKC/ASCA CD RA NAC TN-N CGC) earned her Novice Tunnelers title this weekend. Unfortunately, out of 5 (Kee) and 7 (Tess) runs, the girls only earned Qs in one class, tunnelers. Keelin has a wonderful jumpers run on Sunday, but was OVER time by .19!!! While she did have a 'loopy' run, I think the times were way off for all the courses, and she should have Qd. Very frustrated with NADAC right now~chances (gamblers) courses for both days were outrageous....think I'll be doing USDAA for awhile now.  Tessa (A-CH Rainyday's Busby Babe NAJ NJP GS-O NAC OJC NCC TG-N TN-O WV-N PJII CGC) had a mixed weekend~some really nice runs (no Qs), but some stupid things too. She had great contacts until her last run in Chances, where I couldn't be right beside the dogwalk...ugh.

but on the bright side I got some wonderful photos of the girls in the bluebonnets. I'm still editing, but I like these two...

April 4

Danielle and Dorinda Pugh sent a note about their weekend:

We attended one day of the AKC Agility Trial in McKinney, TX. Trace (Rainyday's I Got My Game On ASCA CD RE RS-N GS-O JS-O STDs)  was a rockstar and came home with an NA leg (1st place) and an NAJ leg (2nd Place).   Tucker (A-CH Rainyday's You Just Watch Me CD RN NA NAJ RS-O JS-O GS-N NAC TG-N TN-N CGC) qualified in Novice Jumpers with a 1st place to finish his NAJ.  Toby Keith (ASCA A-MBISS A-CH Rainyday's How Do You Like Me Now? AKC/ASCA CD RA OA OAJ NAO NJP JS-E RS-E GS-E NAC NJP TG-N WN-N CGC) and Dorinda qualified in Novice Jumpers to finish his NJP with a 2nd place and   Jackson (SVCH PCH ATCH WTCH AKC/ASCA CH Rainyday's Remember When AKC/ASCA CDX RE AX AXJ RS-E-OP JS-E-OP GS-E-OP EAC NJC NGC TG-O WV-O TN-N HIAs HSAcd RTDs) also finished his NJP with a 1st place. What a great way to end the weekend!

Wonderful note from Linda Grant in CA:

Well, it's been quite a while since we had a conformation brag, but today  Elki (Rainyday's C Ya At Da Top CD HSAs STDc ATDsd JS-N CGC) went Winner's Bitch for a 5 point major in ASCA.  There were 34 bitches entered and quite a few were already AKC champions working on their ASCA championships, so it was a very nice win.   These are her first points.  Nice way to start out.

Linda
Alsi and Elki

Great note from Cherie Gessford in CA:

Hi all,
Went to the same ASCA Show and Trial as Linda and Elki.  We got to see Elki get her 5 point major yesterday.  Did fairly well again today.  She's on a roll, that young herding miss.
Burns (C-ATCH Rainyday's Catcher in the Rye AKC/ASCA CD RAE NA NAJ NJP RS-O JS-E  NAC ChST ChJU HSAs STDs) and I were off in Agility, couldn't get a contact to save us.  But at the end of the trial today, with a huge storm rolling in, Burns earned his Elite Jumpers title with 2 nice Jumpers runs.  Nothing like last minute saves.
Now Reva (Rainyday's Sierra Sunrise RA CL1 CL2 CL3-H CL-3S CL3-F GS-N JS-N CGC) was better.  I only entered her in Novice Jumpers and Novice Gamblers.  This was her first ASCA Trial and she had to jump 20" for the first time. (In CPE she jumps 16".)  Well, she came home with a Jumpers and a Gamblers Novice title.  She earned a 1st, a 2nd, and two 4ths out of a class of 8, so I'm very proud of her.
But, what I'm most happy about is that I took her to a canine ophthalmologist this last week.  She passed her CERF with flying colors.  She is 26 months old. Now I am celebrating!
So many of you also celebrated Easter with successes in Agility. Congratulations.  What a way to spend a special holiday.

We hear that Erin Holley's boy Nolan (Rainyday's Nolan Ryan) earned his first RN leg this weekend and her Spark (AKC/ASCA CH Rainyday's I'm On Fire HT) son Wes (Pacific's Western Sunset RN) earned his first RA leg!

Note from Nellie Morack about her girl Izzy (CKC/UKC CH Rainyday's In Your Dreams):

Hi,

Spoke to Reggie a bit ago and Izzy was WB/BW today at Raleigh. It was supposed to be 2 pts but he thinks it might have been 1 pt. Many were absent -so 1 or 2 more points.  :-)

 Nellie

And another note from Nellie:

Izzy got another one of her famous RWB today at Raleigh - which was a major!!!

She is doing very good for a young girl!!!!

Sounds like Danielle Pugh had a great time at the TX ASCA show. She writes:

We attended two days of the ASCA Conformation show in Whitesboro, TX. Toby Keith (ASCA A-MBISS A-CH Rainyday's How Do You Like Me Now? Fun note from Mary Mynaugh about her boy Ziggy (AKC/UKC CH Rainyday's Ziggy Stardust NA FDGCH):

There are 756 dogs who play flyball in MD,PA,NJ and DE and Ziggy is ranked #65 (Archie is #18)

Only 77 of those dogs are Aussies.   Archie is #3 Aussie and Ziggy is #12 Aussie

February 27-28

Great note from Margaret Freeman:

I know that this pales next to most of your achievements, but Rory (Rainyday's Glorious Habit) and I entered the ring for the first time this past weekend. He's quite a character, so it's taken some time and training and a lot of help. We came home with two blue ribbons in Novice A Rally, including a score of 95 on our second day.

I'm so proud of my boy! He slipped up just slightly with a couple of mild (for him) barks during the course on the second day, and a sit too far in front of me, but otherwise did a great job. Then he celebrated in typical Rory fashion, thankfully after we'd exited the ring. He'd been pretty excited as this was an entirely new situation for him, but he eventually acquitted himself well. :)
Margaret.

And a great note from Laurie Reeter-Brown too:

We had a great weekend of agility at Rendon.  It was good to see Laura and Mayzie again!

After 4 runs of 1/2 Qs in Regular Standard, Elliot (Rainyday's Eliot Can Fly OA AXJ  RS-E JS-E GS-N)
finally got her RS-E (I admit, she needs a faster/better handler!).  She also Qd in her second Gambler's Novice run for her GS-N!

The gamble was a jump / tunnel / aframe set 10 feet from the line / jump.  I saw several dogs hop off the aframe when they saw their handler that far away, but Elliot stayed on, did a great touch, then went on to the last jump without a flaw.  Someone else managed to get 27 points so we came in 2nd with 20.

I also managed to pick up my speed long enough to get a 10point Q in our second regular run, so I'm very pleased with my Punkie and our weekend!

Hope everyone else had a great one!  :)

Cool note from Erin Holley about Nolan (Rainyday's Nolan Ryan):

Just a quick brag----

We showed AKC in Camden AR this weekend.  Today Nolan went RWD to a 3 pt major (so close).  Competition was tough, lots of breeders, handlers, and nice dogs.  Not bad for an owner handler and a cute little pet dog.  :)

Erin

And a fun note from Janet Douglass:

I spent the last two weeks cooped up in the house with my kids thanks to all the snow we received here in Virginia! The Elementary age kids only went to school one day for 4 hours until this past week when they went in late Wed and Thursday.

So imagine how happy I was to have friends take them off my hands so I could do three days of AKC agility (my in-laws were suppose to watch them but they did not come)!!!!!

All three days had very technical and challenging courses, off course jumps and tunnels were extremely close to your dogs path and you really needed to stay connected with your dog every second on course.

While Logan had some very lovely runs and put in some fast times he only managed to Q in jumpers on Friday. But Foster was the man and really gave 110% for me in 5 out of 6 runs (I think he was just done by jumpers today).  He QQ'd Friday and Saturday!!!!!! Today's standard run was really really nice for both boys but both knocked a bar going down the last line.

Hope everyone had a great weekend too!

Janet

February 13-14

Great note from Kathleen Holt:

Hi everyone,

I'm home from a weekend of NADAC agility at McGregor, Texas. The weekend was cold, wet and muddy, but we had a great time. Tessa (A-CH Rainyday's Busby Babe NAJ NJP GS-O NAC OJC NCC TG-N TN-O WV-N PJII CGC) did the 'full package' of eleven runs for the weekend, and Keelin did four each day. Tessa earned her first regular/standard (open) Q in a year! In total, she got five Qs, for two titles, and one 'award'. She earned her Open Tunnelers and Novice Chances title; the Chances completed her Versatility Award, for all six Novice titles! We had a couple bumps (breaking one stay, having to repeat contacts), but all but one run were really, really good. I'm so proud of her, and we had so much fun!

Keelin (Rainyday's Nobody Does It Better AKC/ASCA CD RA NAC TN-N CGC) earned her first NADAC Qs, with clean runs in Touch N Go, Jumpers, Tunnelers and Standard. She is really starting to come along, running the courses with enthusiasm and SPEED~sometimes a bit too much of each! Total focus is still missing, but she's come a long way, and I expect her to improve even more in the next few trials.

Our next trial is in three weeks....so we'll practice hard, and bring home a few more Qs and titles! And right now I'm going to bed because I'm exhausted!
Kathleen and the girls

We also heard from Pam Craft-Speck that Twister (Rainyday's Texas Tornado RN) finished his RA tite this weekend!

February 6-7

We had a great time at the Hobbs, NM AKC show with some of our closest friends. On Sunday Chip (Rainyday's OneRedHot Chipolte) was RWD. Eleanor (ASCA CH Rainyday's Eleanor Rigby) was WB/BOS for a four pt major to finish her AKC championship!

January 30-31

Great news from Laurie Reeter-Brown:

We left before the results were posted yesterday and I just assumed Elliot (Rainyday's Eliot Can Fly OA AXJ  RS-E JS-E GS-N) didn't Q in either of her AKC runs...  So I was very pleasantly surprised to find her 3rd place JWW ribbon this morning!

After another knocked triple bar in our Standard run, my little Punkie went out and earned another 3rd place JWW ribbon today, along with her AXJ!  I'm so, so proud of her!  :)

So, with still No Q in Standard, we are moving up with the big guys in Excellent B.  :o

I hope everyone is having a great weekend!

And a note from Nellie Morack about Izzy (CKC/UKC CH Rainyday's In Your Dreams):

Izzy was RWB again both days at the AKC show in Charleston. She had many compliments on her coat and movement. She is a pretty girl!

Here are a couple pictures.

Fun note from Janet Douglass:

So it seems this group needs some fun news!

I took my THREE boys to a DOCNA trial last weekend. Logan and Foster both compete in the Specialist level, Logan in the Competition division and Foster in the Select division because he wasn't able to make course time (just a second or 2 over -very frustrating).

Both boys ran great for the first time out. Logan Q'd 7 out of 11 runs and finished one of his Games titles. Foster not only Q'd 6 out of 7 runs but he had fast enough times that would have he would have qualified in the Competition class -he would have beat Logan in a jumpers round! So I was thrilled to see that out new training has really paid off and I will probably put him back in the Competition division next time.

Bolt had a great weekend too. Meeting new friends, peeing while on a leash and napping with lots of stuff going on!

Janet

And a new title for Laurie Reeter-Brown:

Introducing... Rainyday's Quintessential Red JS-N!

Quin got that 2nd needed Q last night in Rendon so now has his first title!  :)  I'm really proud of him.

Elliot (Rainyday's Eliot Can Fly OA AXJ  RS-E JS-E GS-N) earned two 1/2 Qs (5pts each) and is still a 5pt Q short of her RS-E title.  (She was penalized for being over course time today 3 out of 4 times, which I think may have been a judge/course error because she usually has lots of time to spare.)

We also attempted our first Gambler's run today in over a year, and got a 1st place Q.  :)

I also met Kathleen, Keelin, and Tessa!  It was great to finally put a faces with names and it's always great to see other cute Rainyday wiggle-butts!  :)

And a note from Kathleen Holt:

Just home from the ASCA agility trial in Rendon, south of Ft Worth.  Tessa (A-CH Rainyday's Busby Babe NAJ NJP GS-O NAC OJC NCC TG-N TN-O WV-N PJII CGC) was entered for two jumpers, two standard and gamblers. Kee for two jumpers and a standard. In the first jumpers round Keelin (Rainyday's Nobody Does It Better AKC/ASCA CD RA NAC TN-N CGC) was a bit stop and start, and we 'circled' several jumps. But on her second run, she ran like a champion! Strong and steady, and she listened to mom~except for a bobble when she couldn't see the tunnel in front of her nose! But we made time and Qd. Tessa had a great first jumpers run, but for some reason we were marked for 10 penalties, and it couldn't be explained why....so whatever, I didn't tape it so couldn't argue it. Our second run was nice but we had a couple fences down. Next was Gamblers, and while it wasn't pretty, we did get the minimum points and made the (easy) gamble. Standard run for Keelin was okay~she flew off the teeter right away and scared herself, but I got her around the rest of the course in fine style. I had fun with Tess, and we got most of our contacts, though we did have to repeat the Aframe, and we didn't finish the course~but I was happy with her progress. We did have another standard run, but we were tired and cold, and it was late...so we bailed.

We met Laurie and Elliot, and got to watch them run....love meeting other RD family members!

All for now...another trial in three weeks, same time as NEW PUPPIES due! Can't wait for both....

And a note from Cherie Gessford:

Hi all,
It has taken until now to catch up on all the emails from this weekend.
It's good to hear that Merlot and Merlin are a little better.  Such great dogs.  Will keep sending positive thoughts.
Congratulations on the accomplishments that I read about.  I, too, have taken a Zink seminar many years ago.  Learned so much.  That's when I was first in Agility. I would like to do another one now.
Reva (Rainyday's Sierra Sunrise RA CL1 CL2 CL3-H CL-3S CL3-F GS-N JS-N CGC) was great again.  Eight Qs in ten runs with many 1sts and 2nds.  She finished Level 2, so is now in Levels 3 and 4. She has only trialed for two months in Agility.  So I guess she's a keeper.  Ha!  Just let anyone try to pry her away from me.
Burns (C-ATCH Rainyday's Catcher in the Rye AKC/ASCA CD RAE NA NAJ NJP RS-O JS-E  NAC ChST ChJU HSAs STDs)finished 3/4 of the points needed for his C-ATCH 2 this last weekend, so he's on a roll also.
I'm really excited about ASCA Rally coming out soon.  We will be ready when it is sanctioned.  I like the program way better than AKC's version.  Much more of a challenge, leads in better to Obedience.

January 8-9

Our client bitch Snow (ASCA CH Po's Look at Me) won a tough five pt major at the Glen Rose show to finish her AKC championship!

Dorinda Pugh and her boy Tucker (A-CH Rainyday's You Just Watch Me CD RN NA NAJ RS-O JS-O GS-N NAC TG-N TN-N CGC) finished his AKC CD at the Glen Rose shows!

Nellie Morack's girl Izzy (CKC/UKC CH Rainyday's In Your Dreams) picked up an AKC WB win too :-)

We also had a fun note from Cheryl Christensen:

Hi Everyone,

Yesterday, Ike (Rainyday's You Got Me Running) and I braved the cold (5 degrees) and snow to compete in an AKC sanctioned match.  I'm  proud to say, Ike took BOB and a Group 3.  The judge told me she really liked Ike and wanted to place him higher in Group, but we had a gaiting issue on the last down and back, so she dropped us to 3rd.  I was still thrilled and we will continue to work on our gaiting. I'll post our picture as soon as it is available.

And a great note from Cherie Gessford in CA:

Hi,
Reva (Rainyday's Sierra Sunrise RA CL1 CL2 CL3-H CL-3S CL3-F GS-N JS-N CGC) spent her 2nd Birthday running Agility.  Has to do weaves and difficult courses now.  She ran 10 runs.  Well, she was fantastic.  Can't think of a better way to spend celebrating her Birthday.  And to cap it off,  Burns (C-ATCH Rainyday's Catcher in the Rye AKC/ASCA CD RAE NA NAJ NJP RS-O JS-E  NAC ChST ChJU HSAs STDs) earned his C-ATCH the same day!  He has become an amazing distance working dog.  So we had a lot of fun celebrating these two special events.
When I read about the cold some of you endure to show, I'm very impressed.
Lot's of good stuff happened for Rainyday's dogs this past weekend.  Congratulations.
Cherie, Burns (Merlin X Rose '04), Reva (Gavin X Ivy '08)

And more agility news from Janae Cunningham here in TX:

We did c.p.e. on Sat. and Rex (Rainyday's King of the Road RA CD AX AXJ OF RS-N GS-N JS-E CL1 CL2 CL3 CGC)  got (1) 4th place and (2) 1st places at levels 4 and 5.  Annie got (3) 1st places at levels 2 and 3.  I made a little taa-da shout-out for  9 y/o Annie....does anyone mind if I post it...she isn't Rainyday but she has helped me raise my Rexie.
Congrats to all of the Rainyday clan this past weekend!

We also received this awesome email from Lily Bhalang:

Aloha to all,

Sorry I been so quiet as it been a crazy holiday season. I am a manager at Sam's Club and its been a rough and crazy season. One manager went down the day after Thanksgiving with a stroke and we been running the store with one less help. I survived and life is finally getting back to normal.

I been reading about everyone wins and comments but haven't had time to respond. Congratulations on everyone wins :-) Rainyday Aussies been representing!!

We had our end of the year Dog Banquet last night and Beckham received #1 Aussie and #3 Herding Dog. I was shocked as he ranked so high even when he was out for half the show season. Way to go BECKHAM!!

Happy New Year!!

January 1-3

Great note from Lisa Kelley:

Friday was Cruise's (Rainyday's All The Right Moves) first agility show.
He got a 3rd in Std and a 4th in JWW. Just missed getting a Fast Q, but got major cuteness points for his "leap of joy" in between obstacles. He was having fun!
Sat he had a clean run and 1st place in Std and a Q in JWW. Missed the Fast Q again, dang far end of the tunnel.
Very proud of the boy. Very focused, just a few bobbles. Hit all of his contacts. And Sat hit all of weaves on the first try. He was 10-20 secs under time so far, so he is running pretty fast. He would go faster if his momma could move faster, poor thing
At least they said I was not running like Barny Rubble this weekend. ( :

Will let you know how he does Sun.

Lisa Kelley and Cruise

And a Cruise update...

Today Cruise got 2 more first places. He had a great weekend.
Cruise Q'd 6 out of 8 runs with three first places, a second, a third, and one Q. He had one great Clean Run.

I have been out of agility for about 2 1/2 years and everyone kept asking me if it was fun to be back doing agility
"I said no, it is terrifying, it is only fun when the run is over"    ( :
Will I be out there again, you bet.  Some how nerves is reinforcing to me, go figure. ( :

I think our next AKC show will be in March, hopefully he will finish the Novice titles then.
Or maybe some ASCA shows, we need to start looking at what the courses look like for the nationals

Crongrats to all the other Rainyday dogs this weekend.

Laurie Reeter-Brown was at an ASCA agility trial this weekend. She writes:

I took both dogs to an ASCA trial in Rendon on Jan. 1st.
Elliot (Rainyday's Eliot Can Fly OA AXJ  RS-E JS-E GS-N) did an awesome job, earning a 1st place and 2nd place in Elite Jumpers, which is 20 points toward her 100 needed for an Outstanding Performance title.  :)   She also Qd 1.5 times in regular (the 5pt time fault deduction was completely my handler error).
It was very, very cold, just in the mid 30s for most of the day.  I don't remember ever running a course in my coat before!

We also had awesome news from CA where Linda Buell ran her Spark (AKC/ASCA CH Rainyday's I'm On Fire HT) daughter, ASCA CH Woodstock's Coming Around Again, at her first agility trial. Linda writes:

Carly made her AKC agility debut today in Novice B with "Q's" in FAST, JWW and Standard with 1st, 2nd and 1st placements respectively :-)))

And...

Last day today, of our 4 day trial.  Carly (first AKC trial) garnered all of her Novice Titles (Standard...JWW...FAST) and got her first Open leg in Standard.  She was 10 for 12 in Qualifying runs with six 1st placements...three 2nd placements...and one 3rd placement.
