We had a nice note from Linda Grant about her little Violet
daughter, Elki. Linda writes:
Well, this morning we got up at the crack of dawn
and drove to an AKC fun match. Elki (Merlin x Violet) was entered in the
6-9 puppy class. After some delay by the host club, we finally got
started about 45 minutes late.
Elki was Best of Breed puppy, and then went on to
win the Puppy Herding Group. She almost went Best Puppy in Match, but
lost to a Rhodesian Ridgeback. It was a small match, but still I
was still very please with how well she behaved in the ring.

We heard from Kerry Kirtley in CA that her boy Stoli (an
AKC/ASCA CH Rainyday's Desperado son) picked up a 4 pt major under Charmaine Melton
and another 5 pt reserve under Becki Deleon last weekend. He's up to 9 pts
ASCA now and also has several of reserves in AKC.
We also heard from Sherree Sanchez in CO. She reported that her
Spark (AKC/ASCA CH Rainyday's I'm On Fire HT) daughter Diva (AKC CH Outlaw's
Totally Divine) took a 5 pt major under Chuck McWilliams, giving her 14 pts
towards her ASCA championship!
We also had a wonderful note from Debbie Hanson in IL. Debbie
attended an agility trial with her Rose (AKC/ASCA CH Rainyday's Roses Are Red)
daughters, Remy and Flicka. Debbie writes:
We had a fun weekend of CPE agility out on the
prairie in Onarga, IL. Saturday was cloudy, chilly, and VERY windy (nothing to
stop the
wind out there!) and Sunday was cool, calm, and not a cloud in the sky. At one
point on Sunday afternoon, I put on those shorts and
that T-shirt that I had packed with a hopeful spirit! I'm bragging on a new
little girl tonight -- and that's Flicka! She's Rose x Baker, 19 months now. She
experienced just her 2nd and 3rd days of agility trials as a competitor and
ended up with 7 Qs in 10 runs for the weekend! Granted, she's playing in Level 1
and 2, but we get better as a team with each run. She earned Level 1 legs in
Jackpot (gamblers) and Wildcard, a leg in Level 2 Fullhouse, two legs in Level 2
Jumpers and two legs in Level 2 Colors. All Qs were 1st places!! I have moved
her up to Level 3 for the Colors and Jumpers games this weekend but may regret
what I wish for.....she'
ll have to do weave poles in Level 3 Colors. We're planning a crash course in
weaves this week <g>....she still doesn't know what to do with more than
two poles when they are straight.
Remy wasn't too shabby this weekend either. She had 9 Qs in 10 runs, all in
Level C where you gotta be clean to qualify. The only major
CPE title she's working on these days is C-ATE, and she's still only about half
way there. Her Colors run in 9.90 sec yesterday was great
fun!
Hope all of you had fun with your doggies this weekend!

Ronda Clark DVM and Shella Barclay both had great weekends at
the Lubbock, agility trial. Ronda and Gretchen (Rainyday's Here for the Party OA

Sunday with a second place finish and 15 MACH points! Lizzie (Rainyday's Walk
This Way UD MX MXJ) is sitting at 8 double Qs and 555 points towards her
MACH. Shelly and her crazy red head Sara (Rainyday's Born to Fly NA) completed
their NAJ this weekend too!
We also had a great update from Colleen Blanchon who wrote about
her girl Henley (Rainyday Take it to the Limit). Colleen wrote: Soo
it's been a while. We went to NM in September and Henley and I finished our AXJ.
Then last weekend we went to Enid OK. and finished our AX and received our first
double Q ever, with our first MXJ leg and our last AX leg. Then Saturday we got
our first MX leg and Sunday We got our second MX leg. We ended the weekend with
a total of 20 Mach points. Then this weekend in Lubbock we received our second
MXJ leg on Saturday and today we got our First Double Q towards our mach!!!. So
right now we have 3 MX and 3 MXJ legs and 43 Mach points. Man Agility is fun. :)

What a weekend... we stayed home while Kate recouped from
surgery, but everyone else seems to have had a wonderful time!
At the ASCA show in Whitesboro... I think this note from
Danielle Pugh is a pretty good explanation of the weekend she had with her boy
Jackson (AKC/ASCA CH Rainyday's Remember When AKC/ASCA CDX RE OA AXJ RS-E JS-O
GS-E OAC NCC TG-N HSAs STDs):
We were in Whitesboro, TX for an ASCA herding trial Friday -
Sunday. It was Jackson's first time to trial on Ducks and Cattle.
On Friday, Jackson qualified in Open Sheep with a 4th place for
his first OTDs leg. He qualified in Started ducks with a 3rd place for
his first STDd leg. He also qualified in Started cattle for his first
STDc leg.
On Saturday, he qualified in Open Sheep to finish his OTDs,
Started ducks to finish his STDd, and Started cattle to finish his STDc.
We got a placement on one of our runs, but for the life of me I don't remember
which one.
We also qualified for the Jackpot, which is basically a fun
game that they do on Saturday night. They take your sheep and cattle
scores from Friday and Saturday, and they invite the top 4 Aussies and the
top 4 other breeds. Anyone who doesn't qualify can buy their way in
for $100. They also auction off everyone who is competing in the
Jackpot, and if you bought the person who wins the Jackpot, you and the
winner split 2/3 of the auction money. We were WAY out of our league,
we were the only Open dog that qualified. Basically, you did one run
on cattle and one run on sheep. You had to take 5 head out of the take
pen, through one panel, through the center chute (center pen for sheep) and
re-pen. You got one point for every head you put through each
obstacle, and ties were broken with time. There are basically no
rules, and as time goes on, people figure out the best ways to cheat to get
the run done the fastest. They combined scores and times to get the
high Aussie and high other breed. We were not in contention, but we
had a really good time. Everyone yells and hoots and hollers during
the whole thing, it was really fun.
On Sunday, Jackson got his first Open cattle, OTDc leg.
All in all, he was a very good dog. He qualified in 7
of his 9 runs. By Sunday, he was getting really tired and he wasn't
listening so we really didn't have our best runs.
Jackson and Danielle were not the only ones to have a great time at the
ASCA trial. Kari Brown trialed her boy Pete ( ) and earned Pete's OTDs
and also a leg on his OTDd title!
And at the AKC agility trial in Lubbock:
Ronda Clark DVM and Gretchen (Rainyday's Here for the Party NA
OAJ JS-N) completed their OA this weekend! Shella Barclay was there also and ran
her girl Sara (Rainyday's Born to Fly) for her first regular AKC agility trial
and Sara earned two legs on her NA!
and... we heard from Mary Mynaugh about Ziggy's (UKC CH
Rainyday's Ziggy Stardust FDCH-S) AKC agility debut:
I know everyone was sitting on the edge of their
chairs just waiting for the results to come in on Ziggy's debut. :-)
We started off the morning in Novice JWW.
There were a few potential problems. The judge was male and he has
facial hair. The assistant scribe was a lady that his likes who always
gives him hugs and kisses and cookies. And to top it off one of the
ladies doing ring crew is on his flyball team and raced with Zig last weekend.
I didn't hold out much hope but I tried to keep him focused on me outside the
ring and prayed that it would transfer INSIDE the ring. My prayers were
answered! Zig kept his stay at the start line and when I called
him, he flew around the ring. His only problem was finding the weave
pole entry. One he found it, he wove beautifully. He lost time at
the weaves and he was a bit wide on a couple of jumps but he ended up with a
clean run and he was under time. He ended up getting 2nd place.
We had some problems with his standard run too.
THREE of his favorite people sat at ringside to cheer him on.
Again Zig kept his stay at the start line. He got a little bit
distracted by people but then I said "cookie" and he came right to
me and did the teeter to the tunnel tunnel combination. We were doing
great until we got to the weave poles. The next obstacle after the
weaves was a tunnel and Zig kept losing focus and running to the tunnel.
We tried again and again to get the weaves, but the tunnel kept screaming
"Ziggy" and Ziggy kept going to the tunnel. I had a choice to
make. I could either keep trying to make him weave and frustrate him, or
I could do the last 4 obstacles. I chose to do the obstacles. He
left the course happy.
I think Zig did pretty well for his first time
out. I had his attention and focus for about 85% of his runs. When
I did lose attention I was able to get him to refocus on me. He made all
of his contacts and he held his stays. Now if only I could make
him suck to weave poles instead of tunnels.
Mary
Ziggy also earned a Q in Novice Standard the following day!
and... at the AKC shows in Birch Run, MI, Token (MBIS AKC CH
Rainyday's Reason to Believe) was BOB both days and placed in the group with a 2
and a 4. Panda (AKC CH Rainyday's Pandemonium) was at the AKC shows in Lake
Waccamaw, NC where she was also BOB both days and placed in the group with a 2
and a 4. Both Token and Panda are owned by Courtney Bell.
It sure sounds like it was the weekend for Spark (AKC/ASCA CH
Rainyday's I'm On Fire HT) pups!
Deb Hendrickson had a great weekend in Big Springs, TX at the

and they would not let me show Pete in Open A even tho I was in the catalogue
and picked up my number. I did not realize there was a problem till I was
about to walk in to the ring. I was not listed in the Judges book!! Lots
of drama, I was not able to show Pete so I went to the Rally ring where I was
the next dog in. I told the ring steward to check the Judges book as I
just had issues in Obedience and I would be right back with Pete. When I
got back it turns out AGAIN I was not in the Judges book..........They had to
call the Onofrio rep back over and more drama. He looked at me and said he
wished it was not me AGAIN.......He wrote me in the book so I could show. Why
could he not write me in the Judges book for Obedience??? Anyway, I tend
to be a little emotional :O) I was so upset that Pete would not work for
me. Can you blame him when his mother just had a break down??!!! I
put Pete up and went to have a discussion with Onofrio. They are refunding
my entry for Obedience but not Rally. They did fix my entries for the rest
of the weekend. Good news is I was able to show Indi in Advanced Rally and
finished his RA TITLE!!! Sunday, I entered Indi in Open A,
Excellent Rally and Pete in conformation. Indi's debut in Open was good.
He had a 191 1/2 before the out of site sit. He decided to lay down.
Oh well, good first try. Indi then picked up his first Excellent
Rally leg!!! The best news of the weekend is Pete only needed 4 singles
and he took a 4 pt. Major to finish his CH!!! Now to work more on the
performance side!
We also heard from Cherie Gessford in CA that she and Burns competed in their
second CPE trial on Saturday. There were five runs and Burns qualified in all
five and completed two new titles!
Courtney Bell also had good news. In OH, her girl Panda
(AKC CH Rainyday's Pandemonium) was BOB and a Group 4 on Friday, BOB on
Saturday and BOS on Sunday. Courtney is in FL with Token
(MBIS AKC CH Rainyday's Reason to Believe). Token has already picked up
several breed wins and group placements on the tough FL circuit.
